Yesterday my baby girl turned 3! I can't believe how the last 3 years have flown by and how big my baby has gotten. Reese went to school yesterday morning where she got a small gift and card from her teacher as well as a crown. In the afternoon they had cupcakes and goody bags to celebrate.
After school we took her and her friend Avery to Yabadoo which is a giant indoor playground. They had so much fun and ran and screamed and played as hard as they could until it closed at 7 last night.

After we got home she opened the gifts from her grandparents and Aunt Shelly and Uncle Rusty as well as her Nannie and cards from many other sweet relatives. Each time she opened one I would tell her who it was from and she would say "It's for me"--just to make sure it wasn't for someone else. She got so much great stuff--baby dolls, pajamas, books, movies, a Barbie, dress up clothes and regular clothes. She loved all of it and immediately started using all of it.

This morning we had a little party for her at the house. We invited 4 of her friends over and they had a big time. They all played with Reese's dress up clothes, shoes, and jewelry and played with lots of toys. Then we did a craft where they got to design their own wooden princess mirrors and it was on to presents and cake. I think everyone, birthday girl included, had a great time. Though she got grumpy when we sang Happy Birthday (she doesn't like for other people to sing--she is the only allowed to sing!), it was a great day and a great birthday.
Reese does have a bad cold right now, which wasn't such a great birthday gift but she is being a trooper. We took a 3 hour nap after the party and have spent much of the afternoon snuggling on the couch, which is fine with me. I don't know whether it's the pregnancy hormones, the realization that there are only 12 more weeks until Reese is no longer my only baby, or the fact that she is growing up so quickly but I have been very Reese needy and a bit teary the last few days. I've wanted to snuggle and hold her close before she is too big to let me! But I am glad to see her growing bigger, stronger, funnier and more beautiful every day and I look forward to the next year!
Her birthday 3 years ago...sniff sniff!

I remember feeling the exact same way when Jodi turned 3 and you were due about 6 weeks afterward. So, it is normal-- whether it's the hormones or just being a Mom.
