We had such a good time biking last year. We would load Reese up on my bike and go several times a week throughout the spring/summer/fall. It was always fun, even with the super big hills! This spring when we went to put her on the bike again, she had fits. Not just whining or crying but throw herself down on the ground fits! She refused to get on my bike. It went on like this all spring and with us being gone part of the summer we didn't get to try the bike again until earlier this month.
I didn't hold out much hope but the big bike festival was a few weeks ago. I covered this last year on my blog--it's the Sunday where the main road in front of our house is blocked to all traffic except bikes, walkers, roller bladers, etc. I took Reese on a walk to town that morning so she could see all the bikes and hopefully get excited. I was also surprised she stayed in her stroller for our hour long walk so that was another step in the right direction!
We saw all the bikes and I told her we were going later and she didn't object, so I thought that was good. She got a balloon from one of the vendors and was excited about that until she lost her grip on it and it floated away. I told her if we went on a bike ride later she could get another one and I think that must have been what did it because when we got ready to go she didn't fight or struggle or cry. She said "fun" and hopped right on as if she hadn't protested biking for the last 4 months!
Troy was able to go with us this year and we had a great time. We stopped for snacks along the way and Reese even fell asleep on the back of my bike! It was a fun family day and now everytime I ask Reese if she wants to go on a bike ride she says "yes, fun fun fun"!
